Logan Mansion, Shreveport, LA - Pt. 3 - Ghost Stories

The Logan Mansion has long been thought to be haunted.  In the 1930's while a boarding house, a little girl between the age of 8 to 10 fell from the attic window to the ground below where she died. Because she was a boarder, we do not know her identity, however, the story of a little girl falling to her death has been verified. One of the Hampton's granddaughters told Mrs. LeBrun that when she was little, the children were not allowed to go to the second floor or the attic alone because those floors were haunted. A paranormal investigating team visited the Logan Mansion and set up a camera near the attic door for 3 hours. They didn't catch much activity, but about an hour and a half into recording they captured a voice. Mrs. LeBrun played it for me. The voice of a young girl, or perhaps a panicked woman, exclaimed, "You can't go up there!" It gave me excited chills.

Mrs. LeBrun was kind enough to share her ghost stories with me. She says there have been many playful pranks played on herself and her family, but nothing harmful. Several times she had gone outside thru the side door and found herself locked out of the house.  The screen door has an eye and hook latch and though she tried, she could not get the door to just latch on its own. Many times money had gone missing only to show up again later, sometimes in different denominations. A painting crew one time had trouble keeping the lids on paint cans.  Even though they made sure the lids were secured tightly, every time they would come back to the porch, the lids were off of the paint cans again. The painting crew also reported seeing a little girl in the window.

Many people have seen a little girl standing in the second to left window of the second floor.  Others have said that they have seen the little girl in the middle attic window.  During the house's time as a boarding home the bedroom on the second floor would have been home to an entire family. It is highly likely that the little girl's family once lived in that very room.  The attic with it's open floor plan was once home to teachers who were spinsters. Perhaps the children would play in the attic or get tutored there by their teachers.Standing at the very window the little girl fell from, I cannot imagine how she came to fall. The window is not set very low at all.

The attic has never been renovated. The open floor plan, exposed rafters, all remain as they would have been in the 1930's.
